About me
I am a registered Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Originally from the North West of England, I am now based in the Southside of Glasgow.
Being able to find a counsellor who you can trust can be an intimidating step, especially when other aspects of your life may seem difficult. From personal experience, I know how challenging it can be to find the right counsellor. The great care I received when I eventually found a counsellor suited to me inspired my decision to train as a therapist and provide others with the same support and understanding.
What we can work on
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy primarily focuses on the difficulties you are experiencing in the present. Alongside CBT, I also use aspects of Psychodynamic and Person Centred Therapy. This allows me to adapt my approach to each individual, recognising that everyone’s experiences and needs are different.
In our initial sessions, we will take time to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and develop a shared understanding of what you would like to work towards. Together, we will identify realistic and manageable goals for our time working together.
We can explore a range of challenges and life experiences, including:
• Depression and low mood
• Anxiety
• Low self-esteem
• Panic attacks
• Social anxiety
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• General Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
• Health anxiety
I offer online video therapy to anyone within the UK, as well as in-person therapy to those in Glasgow. If you wish to find out more you can contact me on jim@osmondthompson.com and we can arrange an introductory call or Microsoft Teams chat, to see if we would work well together.
